Budongo Eco Lodge

Many people bypass Budongo Eco Lodge on their way up to Murchison Falls, but the chimp habituation (or tracking) experience is not to be missed.

We stayed two nights at the eco lodge and enjoyed every minute of it.

Our delicious food was served in a timely manner (not always the case in Uganda), and we had a very hearty breakfast to get us powered up for a day of habituation.

We spent a good eight hours in the forest following the chimpanzees around in a very surreal experience.

I would absolutely recommend habituation (full day) over tracking (1 hour) because we certainly learned a lot more about chimpanzees and their behaviours – precisely what we went there to do.

The packed lunch that was provided for us also had generous portions and was packed in a tupperware container, rather than a cardboard box – something I appreciated.

The room was very comfortable and spacious, and the shower was very hot and had very good water pressure (also not always the case in Uganda).

The rains that night though loud, were great to fall asleep to as well.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Budongo Eco-Lodge and would recommend it to anybody who is looking for an add on to a trip to Murchison Falls, or even a weekend getaway from Kampala
