Dar Es Salaam George and Dragon Restaurant is a great venue for a few beers with friends or to meet fellow expats.
The management is very friendly and take time to meet their guests.
I wll be worth their while to just sharpen up on the service and quality of food, had a fillet which was difficult to eat, not that one will find steak in Dar anyway ! T
The crowd is good and the vibe really great if you are from out of town. Nice cosy atmosphere,
If you think that this might be the usual "English Pub" which has been bought as a franchise; you would be wrong.
If you think that the Pub would be populated by dull expatriates compalining about the demise of the Empire; you would be wrong.
In the last 4 years, owners Adam and Sue have created a real addition to the Dar es Salaam restaurant circuit.
The pub is frequented by Tanzanians and expatriates alike and can be really busy on a Friday and Saturday night..
The food is plentiful in quantity, the roast meals on Sunday are a speciality but in the week the menu boasts traditional favourites including steak, meat pies plus traditional fish and chips alongwith local fish and curries. I visited on a number of occassions and the food was always of a good quality.
For sports fans there is a separate room with a large screen and a number of smaller screens which shows the usual favourites such as English Premiership football and rugby. This is ideal as non sports fans can eat and drink in peace.
The usual range of Tanzanian beers is stocked including Kilimanjaro on Keg at Tshs 4,000 per pint.
The pub is closed on Monday nights and also closes when the owners are on holiday twice a year.
