Flamingo Beach Hotel

We reached expecting to be put in shanzu paradise hotel. We got told that this hotel had been closed down when we arrived at the airport.. We kept an open mind and were taken to the flamingo Beach hotel in Shanzu Mombasa.. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff that helped with our bags and offered refreshments as we were all checked in to our rooms.

The standard of service at the hotel was exceptional considering the shocking poverty and lifestyle of the people in the surrounding villages which we had just drove through.

as we arrived in our spacious and clean room with beautiful views onto the beach, we soon realised there was no air conditioning which we had paid for.

We went to reception to see that all of the new arrivals were in uproar about the air-con situation.

We felt the staff may need a break so we simply asked them if we could be moved to a room with the facility.

We then unpacked and went down to the amazing pool facilities..

By the time we got back to the room there were 2 men fitting air con units for us... I really can’t begin to express what a fantastic time we had.

This is a 3rd world country.. and yes maybe some peoples standards are that of a hilton hotel. but for the price, and considering where about we were I feel people are not at all fair!.

The location of this hotel is fantastic and we did a night cruise too which was lovely.

Might return again someday if the price is right, if you have booked this and think it is going to be 5 star then you might be a touch disappointed, it is more like a 3 star but a very enjoyable good one.
