Details about Fogo Goucho Hotel and Retaurant in Nairobi Kenya
By its name Fogo (meaning fire) Gaucho (Brazilian Cowboys), the restaurant clearly echoes what it's all about - a Brazilian steak house with a mission to offer excellent meat cuts all roasted in the traditional Brazilian style. Located in Viking House, Westlands, Fogo Gaucho is a meat paradise.
Their salad bar is elegant with a great variety to choose from, whether it's cheese, roasted veggies, sun dried tomatoes, bread, salami, potato salad, etc. If you are here for the meat though, then you are strongly advised not to have too much salad as good as it is.
Once you have selected your salads, the red and green coasters on your table are your tickets to meat heaven! When you are ready turn the little cards to green and a prim looking gaucho all adorned in Piucha (traditional dress of the gauchos) comes with a gigantic chunk of meat and begins slicing away at your plate.
You get to control the pace of your meat though and when you've had enough; you simply turn the coaster to red and the meat assault promptly stops.
There are different types of meat including beef, pork, turkey, chicken, lamb and even fish. The meat is carefully matured before preparation. Special coarse grained sea salt that helps 'lock' in the meat flavours is exclusively used when roasting.
Besides meats, Fogo Gaucho has a great selection desserts to top off your meat feast. The papaya cream, a fluffy creamy blended drink of fresh papaya and vanilla ice-cream drizzled with blackcurrant syrup is highly recommended as it is not only delicious but aids in digestion - quite convenient after all the meat you have devoured.
Last but not least, a superb wine selection that well complements Fogo Gaucho's award winning steaks await.
If you want to go the whole Brazilian yard, try the Caipirnha (traditional Brazilian liquor) Come hungry, real hungry; spacey atmosphere, great food and a wonderful wine selection - it's an all around meat adventure that is nothing less than perfect.
