Zanzibar Green Garden Restaurant is a great place for a reasonbly priced lunch in Stone Town. It has unique ambiance and the staff is friendly and helpful.
This is one of the few locally owned restaurants serving "western" and swahili fare in town.
They have great juices and the shwarma and "Lebanese" is grerat.
Good pizza too! This is a hidden gem in Stonetown.
Located in the "maze" of the cities back streets, it can be a little tricky to find, but worth the search!
Relaxed seating, with nice greenery and a covered porch on the second floor.
They make great oven-fired pizzas, as well as dishes with some Mediterranean influence.
The squid curry is fantastic.Located very close to the Flamingo Hotel. Looks like a tree house for grown ups.
The kitchen is fairly open, which adds to the character of the place.
The meals were all reasonably priced. Starters between 4,000 and 9,000/= and Entrees between 10,000 and 15,000/=.
They also had a very nice non-alcoholic cocktail menu for 3,000/=. I had a drink with mint sprite, crushed ice and honey ...it was truly amazing.
For an entree I had sweet and sour prawns that were delicious. It also came with a side of veggies and basmati rice.
Overall I would recommend this place to anyone for a great meal in a peaceful location.
