Don't worry about the decor or location (among spare part and general hardware shops) but focus on the food of this Indo Africa Restaurant Mombasa institution.
The food is freshly cooked, tasty and sure does what you have gone to do i.e enjoy a tasty meal.
The building is old and the decor is shabby and the owner is a little bit cheeky but then again, for 10$ no one should even be complaining in the first place, especially if your internet bill is worth more than what you pay for a fairly decent and filling meal.
I have been there countless times and still go to it.The waiters have all disappeared but the one who is there does a pretty efficient job, perhaps a deodorant would help but considering the heat in Mombasa...can anyone blame the poor guy?
The owners cook what they eat and as such, it is superb Indian food.
We were offered a taster fish dish, very tasty, even a non fish eater said so, we ordered prawn curries all round.
You can have hot or not so hot. My not so hot was too tame for me, so I was brought a hot one, as the manager obviously wanted me to taste the best they had.
Chappati's kept coming & we also had a lamb curry, lovely very tasty curry.
They do vegetarian and they are licensed, all the better to wash the food down.
The bathrooms aren't the best, but the ladies was clean. Don't know how busy its gets here, but expats come here, thats how we found it. Our friends say they've never had an upset stomach, and they've always had good food.
Oh, and it was very reasonable on cost.
