Larsens Camp is named after Erik Ole Larsen, a legendary Dane credited with defining the luxury safari under canvas.
It is a luxury permanent tented camp set in lush lawns on the bank of the Uaso Nyiro, a river in Samburu National Reserve.
The river is the perfect stage for an endless pageant of wildlife - elephants rolling and trumpeting in the shallows, timid impala nervously drinking, baboons and vervet monkeys swinging through the canopy of trees.
All 17 spacious airy tents are raised on wooden platforms, nestled between Acacia Trees and Doum Palms, each being named after a bird.
All tents are equipped with a private bathroom with running hot and cold water.
More Information
Enjoy watching the animals from the camp or let the driver take you for a game drive in the park.
This is camping in style with casual colonial elegance, hot showers and a surprising degree of comfort with toweling gowns in the tent and comfort able leather safari chairs.
Cool green lawns stretch between the tents. The food is excellent and often cooked on barbecues in front of you.
Before dinner guests sit with drinks around the camp fire. The mess tent is open on three sides, tables are set with silver and china and dinner is served by candlelight.
