Mercury's Restaurant has a great terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean, friendly and helpful staff. It's not where the locals go, but it has a very nice atmosphere and a wide choice of meals.
Mercury's was close to our hotel so it became our "home" restaurant and we ate there numerous times or just stopped for happy hour.
The food was always tasty and we had a number of different items on the menu. We got to know the staff and they were always friendly and good.
We had pizza there as they had a stone oven.
We are pizza connoisseurs so we like to try pizzas wherever we go and it was quite good.
One evening we stopped just for happy hour and my hubby wanted a beer to take back to the hotel with him.
They trusted us to return the bottle the next day as they have to return the bottles for deposits.
That was quite nice of them. They also have great desserts and I had a wonderful banana split - twic.
Seeing that this was the place where the great late Freddie Mercury grew up till about when he was 9, it was a nice place for a meal.
It is located near the entrance to the ferry service from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam and is located at a nice setting.
Saturday night was live band night and what a nite that was - simple fabulous and I am sure Freddie would have loved the music that the Cocunut Band played.
