Mombasa Il Covo restaurant

Some friends invited us for launch at Mombasa Il Covo restaurant an Italian restaurant by the beach in Bamburi, nice place, good service and pastas but the pizza was excellent, made on the wood oven just in front of us, the best we had at the Coast so far.

I think of Il Covo as more of a nightspot than a restaurant.

Actually the restaurant is pretty good too, not sensational but very good.

But the place really comes to life after about 11 (as it says on their own website).

Good music, great ambiance, and it's pretty busy.

The staff are friendly and helpful. If you found this bar anywhere in the world you'd be quite happy, the fact that it's on a lovely beach in Kenya is a bonus.

My only suggestion would be that they could be a bit more upmarket and adventuous in stocking the bar ... some decent XO brandy (I could only find VSOP), perhaps some boutique Armagnac (get some of the air crew to bring it in!), some frozen vodka, and a bit more of a shooter menu.
