Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is hard to spot as it blends so well into the natural background of the crater.

The photos really don't do it justice.

This is the only hotel on the Somak Safari that didn't have a mosquito net over the bed due to it being 8000 feet above sea level.

I stayed there one night during the safari. It's a cozy place, breathtaking setting on top of thecrater with stunning views.

It takes about 15 minutes to get to the crater entrance.

Nice lounge and bar area as well as dining room.

Good food and a rich breakfast is offered.

In the evening while sitting on the balcony, I could hear a lions and hyenas calling.

The rooms are nice, with heating and have all amenities, only slippers are missing.

A slight challenge is the lack of power plugs.

To charge batteries, I had to unplug the desk reading lamp.

The lodge offers entertainment, acrobatic and singing in the evening.

Excellent place to stay for a couple of days, my recommendation for the hotel would be to offer beakfast earlier from 5:30 onwards latest as their business is predominantly safaris which tend to leave before sunrise.
