Bamburi Papillon Garden Bar Villa and Hotel

Have just returned from a great stay at the Papillon Garden Bar Villa and Hotel formally known as the Fontana in Bamburi Mombasa North Beach. The hotel is run by a German lady, it is beautiful and inexpensive. It offers a garden bar, pool and good security.

The rooms are basic and are in need of a bit of reconstruction work but they do have hot and cold water facilities.

The restaurant is beautifully designed, covered by the shingle and is in the shape of a tribal hut it offers both international and Kenyan food.

It’s location is great it is set on the main road with about a 2 minute walk to the beach and 10 minutes to the bank. The staff in true Kenyan style are very warm and welcoming.

The Garden Bar Villa „Papillon“ is located northcoast of Mombasa, about 20 minutes from Moi International Airport, has a very good connection to the main road to Mombasa Town or direction Mtwapa Watamu Malindi-Lamu, but you not get to hear anything from street noise.

There are not even walk 100 meters to the public beach.

With the matatu (shared taxi) you reach easy and cheap the supermarket "Nakumat", as it is also very good for emergency physicians and pharmacies, as well as international banks where they easily exchange foreign currency.

In the near vicinity are the night owls Cheers, Bora Bora or the Tembo Disco.

On the beach, sports activities like windsurfing, Motorski, glass bottom boat, Banannaboot etc. are possible.

Furthermore, there are restaurants, pizzerias, ice cream cafe`s - for their welfare is taken care of.
