Zanzibar Red Monkey Beach Lodge

You are Here: › Red Monkey Beach Lodge

Much has been said about Red Monkey Beach Lodge in Zanzibar and much can be repeated (ambiance of the place is lovely, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the ocean is beautiful,

the food is decent enough and fairly priced, the rooms are simple but clean, etc.).

Instead I would like to give one consideration: Red Monkey Lodge takes pride in the fact that it is not an enclosed resort but very much in the middle of a village and therefore not 'a golden cage' for tourists.

However, some might actually prefer this golden cage when on a holiday. Whatever may be your preference

The Red Monkey was a relaxed and wonderful little lodge with a perfect beach that is open to the public so it has a really nice feel with children playing football and the fisherman bringing in their daily catch.

It is not overly crowded and the most amazing part are the tides that go out daily and allow you to walk along a sandbar 300 m into the ocean.

The staff is always around, and helpful but not overbearing.

The food is good and the bar well stocked so the perfect place to sit and have a relaxing drink while looking over the ocean.

The rooms are spartan, but have everything you need and are well cleaned.

It is a bit loud with the surrounding neighbors but not off putting.

The staff was knowledgable and helped book excursions, give directions to other restaurants on locations we wanted to visit and were wonderful at addressing all of our needs.

I would suggest this for either a short or long stay on a beautiful part of the island!
