We only stayed at Rhino Valley Lodge in Tsavo West national park Kenya for one night, but we were impressed by the location and staff. Our attractive large room had a good view of the Ngulia Hills. It’s a more authentic place than many of the lodges.
For one thing it’s small with only 22 rooms of various types.
For another, the electricity is provided by a generator, which is more eco-friendly.
When the generator is off at night, a member of the staff will guide you to your room.
Food was good, too. Rhino Valley Lodge seems to cater to an international clientele, and I think we were the only English-speakers staying there.
To be more positive, this place has some of the
most amazing views. I believe it's unique in that it has stone built lodges but
they all have tented frontages.
There is also a terrace where you can
sit and look at the beautiful views. As before, the food this time was
delicious and I'm amazed that they can have such good produce when they are
really out in the middle of nowhere.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (unfortunately,
we didn't get a night visit from one of the **many** local wild leopards....!)
and will more than likely stay there again.
It's very charming, welcoming and the staff are fantastic - can't do enough for you. Let's hope some of the small changes are made and then it would be perfect!
