Satao Luxury Tented Camp in Tsavo east national park Kenya is a great place to stay.
Some people are adversely affected by the thought that wild animals are separated from them by a fraction of an inch of canvas, but real aficionados like yours truly can't get enough of the close up experience
.The Satao Camp is located under a small forest of Acacia Robusta, which following heavy rains were lush and green as was the entire area around the camp,
rich in game with hundreds of elephant, over 1.000 buffalos and plenty of plains game, plus the spectacle of bird life.
The 20 tents are well spaced to allow for privacy and I was privileged to be offered the Suite, aka Director's Tent, well appointed and with sockets / adapter to charge all the needed appliances.
Makuti roofs over the canvas helps to protect
the material from sun rays and rain which keeps it fresh and good looking, and
the bath rooms are 'attached' and properly walled in. My bathroom had a free
standing tub next to large windows, allowing game watching even while taking a
bath!
Service and food were very appealing and the
only downside was the lack of network to tweet my experience 'live' from
location.
WiFi was also temporarily unavailable but is a must today when iPads
and tablets help to spread the gospel of Satao to a global audience, pictures
included, but that takes connectivity of course.
Game drives are by resident driver guides and if
you are lucky as I was, you get Sammy, theri top man who will tall you the
story of how the waterbuck got their white ring on their rear ... don't fall
from the car laughing ...
Highly recommended!
