One of the upcoming towns in Tanzania that needs a mention is Babati Town. Though this town is not attractive as a tourist hub but its locality in Tanzania gives it a clear picture that in future it will be one of the tourist hubs in this hinterland.
Babati is a small city and district of the Manyara Region of Tanzania. The administrative capital of the district 'Babati Town' is located also administrative capital of the newly formed Manyara Region, 172 km south of Arusha.
The District is the capital of Manyara Region. The district is bordered to the north by the Arusha Region, to the south east by the Simanjiro District, to the south by the Dodoma Region, to the south west by the Hanang District, and to the north west by the Mbulu District.
The town boasts Lake Babati where floating hippos can be seen and which is rich in fish, both Tilapia and Nile Perch. Here commercial and farming tribes co-exist with conservative cattle herding tribes to provide a distinguished cultural contrast.
